From Tyler Johnson, Founder of The Meat Wizard

I started The Meat Wizard because I was tired of using seasonings that looked good on the shelf but didn’t perform on the grill. Too many rubs were either salt bombs, full of fillers, or all heat with no balance. After years of cooking, experimenting, and trying every blend I could get my hands on, I decided to develop something better — something built for real barbecue.

I didn’t want shortcuts.

I wanted clean flavor, dependable color, balanced salt, and ingredients that actually complement meat. So I began mixing my own small batches, testing them on wings, pork butts, ribs, and weeknight meals. If it didn’t make the food genuinely better, it didn’t stay.

What started as a personal obsession turned into something worth sharing. Today, every rub that carries The Meat Wizard name is mixed in small batches, built from quality spices, and tested the same way I’ve cooked for years — at home, on real smokers and grills, with real results.

My goal isn’t to impress you with fancy words or gimmicks.

My goal is simple: give you seasonings that help you cook better food. Whether you’re running a smoker all day or grilling dinner for your family, I want you to have a rub you can trust.
